Loud Skimmer

I just bought a red sea protein skimmer (hang on) and it's very loud. It also sounds like it's sucking air from some where. Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you put the one end of the plastic tube into the one tab in the collection cup?

Yeah,
I moved it from the primer connection to the normal operating connection (they are side by side).

Unfortunately then, I couldnt tell you. When mine is on the normal connection side, I dont get the normal air sucking sound, its muffled. Is there a possible hole in the hose somewhere? or the lid on the collection cup isnt attached solidly or a break in the rubber gasket on the top possibly?
