Louisiana Reefers?

Anyone else out there in Louisiana, or Baton Rouge area that are as addicted to this hobby as I am? Even though I am only six months into it, I know I'll be a reefer for life, much to my wifes chagrin ($$) But dammit, (sorry, I like it that much) I will have the reef of my dreams!

Didn't someone just start a reef club in Baton Rouge? Thought I saw some posts several weeks ago about it.
I'm from NC but I have been to New Orleans...does that count? Mardi Gras is awesome.

Mobile is about 3hrs away from me. Hard to get to the meetings you know. :D But if anyone does have information about a local club in Baton Rouge or even NOLA I would like to know.

I used to live in Baton Rouge but am now in sunny California. My mom still lives in Port Allen, though she's not much into fish. I keep trying to convert her. Guess I'll have to just show up and set up a tank for her - kind of like I showed up with a boxer puppy and a computer... If I were closer, I'd join a club with you! I'm pretty fortunate - both my husband and I are equally hooked on this hobby! :D

Hey Irish, I hear you about how addictive this hobby is. I`ve been into it about as long as you have and I`m planning on a bigger tank after my ``learning period`` with my current setup of a 55 gal. I`m in Monroe and have heard that there is a good LFS in Kenner. Have you ever been there and checked it out?

I live in New Orleans and have bought many things from Aquatic Specialties but the store as a whole is kind of pricey. Its best to go there on Tue, Wed, and Thu when they have 20% off on all live stock. Another great shop in New Orleans (Kenner) is Coral Connection. The have literally "tons" of live sand and rock in the shop and the biggest selection of coral that I have ever seen. They even have a web site. www.coralconnection.com
