I don't know what I did differently on this shot. I just like the mood I got from the lighting.

That's what it is. The 3-D effect. Thanks!
Yeah, Oceana, it does look that way. Ironically he's actually the most timid of the bunch :)

mystic 7 that is very cool. I see what you are saying about the lighting. in the renaissance paintings, the treatment of light is what tended to make the painter a master. these artists understood what mood the play of light can bring to the subject.... So I'd have to say, well, that you're a master...

from what I have learned photography wise... light blues and yellows mixed with the contrasting dark brown and purples cause an automatic focus lense to sort of go into a "portrait" mode and instead of focusing on one particular object it focus's on the entire picture.
very nicely done M7... Proof that you don't need to do water changes huh..... lol

Actually, I DID do a water change. I just forgot to replace the water! ;)
I used a Nikon D70 and focused manually. I always shoot in manual mode. I stopped the aperture down to 1/11 which is why the depth of field is so deep. Maybe my brain went into portrait mode

Thanks for the comps, everybody.
