Low Intensity lighting

I have a Marine Glo light and the rating on the package is 'Regular' intensity. Should I get the Marine Glo light that has 'High' intensity?? Ever since this 'regular' intensity I have been having a brown algae problem. Will the higher intensity help??

The higher intensity will help in the long run. But standard florencent bulbs are not that intense. The brown algae isn't algae at all. That is a diatom bloom. How long has the tank been setup? Every new tank goes through a diatom bloom. It will go away in time. Even when adding new lighting, if not properly acclimated, will sprout a diatom bloom. You can siphon out the diatoms if you'd like. You can also get a good cleanup crew do help out-they will keep the algae under control in the latter stages of your tank. A worthwhile investment! Bobber thanks for the reply. What is a clean up crew?? My tank is a 35 gallon that has been running for almost two years. What is a diatom bloom??

Hermit crabs, cleaner shrimps, emerald crabs, sally lightfoot crabs, arrow crabs, gobies, cukes, starfish, basicaly anything that will eat algae, excess food, etc.
