Ok please help! My PH is at 7.6 , i just bought some stuff called Marine Buffer by Seachem. My LFS also said that my salt was at .028. Is this fixable and will it kill any of my livestock ? Because i just had a clownfish die from Popeye but i dont know if that was the cause of it or not because everything else in the tank is fine and looking healthy. Thanks if someone can let me know. And also give me some helpful tips on how to use this Marine Buffer stuff. Thanks

Other info that may prove helpful in determining why the pH is low: size of tank..fish only or reef tank...how many and what type of fish..how often do you feed and what...what are other tank reading ammonia/trites/trates/. This info might help determine the cause instead of just treating the result.
Overall..if all else is Ok..the fish should be fine. I would slowly raise the pH over 12- 24 hours since you iundicated everyone else appears to be oK. The directions should be on the bottle..follow them to try to get the ph slowly to 8.2 by adding a small amount of the buffer to a cup or two of tank water, then once mixed add to the tank.
Fish handle pH changes better than inverts.

i wouldn't use a pH buffer unless you know that your alkalinity is low. that is a pretty high specific gravity reading. why would you run it so high? when was the last time you did a water change?

Yeah everything else reads out ok and i buy premixed saltwater from the lfs. They say its mixed to .023 so i dont know how it got to .028 :( But yeah everything seems to be just fine and they did test results on all my water samples earlier and said everything else is just fine. I have 10 gallon with just some zoanthids about 8 lbs of lr, live sand, feather duster,4 snails, 3 hermits, 2 peppermint shrimp, and just 2 baby clowns, i will upgrade to 28 gallon bowfront in a week.

Are you topping of your evaporated water with fresh DI water or using the jugs that are .023 from the the fish store? Because topping off with the just the jugs, will cause your salinity to rise as well as your PH to drop IF the saltwater is sitting in the jugs.

Well you cannot upgrade in a week. The new tank has to cycle. What were you using for top offs? I highly recommend that you buy your own liquid master test kit for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph. Buy a refractometer as well. Worry about keeping the ten gallon healthy while you set up the 28.
