Lowe's/HD halogen light stands?

My question is can you use the halogen light stands to create an inexpensive way to add M/H lighting to your tank??
are the double ended halogen bulbs the same length as the M/H bulbs?

The 150 watt MH DE bulbs will fit in the 500 watt Halogen fixtures...
You still need to but a Ballast to to drive them and of course the bulb...
250s and larger require a different "base" to clamp in and are too large to fit the Halogen fixtures...
