Juts wondering what the lowest light coral/ mushroom/ polyps there is out there and how much light they would need?
Thinking of setting up a small tank in my office.

Anything non photosynthetic like sun corals, and some gorgonians. They will have to be fed a few times a week though.
What type of lighting are you looking into getting?

I honestly have no idea yet.
I have to find out what size tank they will agree to me having first. I wanted to keep the lighting as simple as possible

i bought this little 7 gallon bow front (on sale at ***** for 12 bucks) and i modded the NO fluorescent strip and put 2 of the smaller spiral compact fluorescent bulbs in it (cool blue) and it has mushrooms, zoos, gsp and xenia in it. the gsp hasnt / probably wont open but the zoos and mushrooms are doing well, the xenia is pretty ok, i think its just getting too much flow...
so... if you know anything at all about electronics you can go to walmart and pick up some sockets and spiral "money saver" type bulbs (the cool blue ones look better than the others) you could mod a strip light.
others may not agree with that so... do whatever you want. just thought id let you know its working perfectly for me.
we have a 55 DT with 260 watt pcs and the mushrooms look MUCH MUCH better in the 7 gallon than the 55 so... softies in a small tank with those spiral bulbs must be a decent combo. you could also mod and get 2 of those 10 watt 50 50 bulbs from *****... if you wanted some actinic action going on.
