LPS and air exposure

I need to rearrange our tank and to accomplish this, i'll be taking some rocks out and putting them in buckets filled with tank water. can lps be exposed to air without damage? we have a hammer, branching anchor, frogspawn, mushrooms and star polyps. it's much easier to just lift pieces out and put them in a bucket without having to keep them in water but i don't want to harm them in doing so.

Yeah, that'll be fine. When I moved into my house last spring I had to take the frogspawn out of the tank, put it in a bucket with other coral, and then put it back when I got things finally set back up. Of course, I ended up taking it out a couple times while try to re-situate it.

The main thing is to gently shake them underwater before taking them out of the tank, to give the tenticles and polyps a moment to retract into the skeleton. Lifting a fully inflated LPS out of a tank will rip and tear the flesh because it is so heavy. So make sure you allow it to retract and then move it to the bucket. I move my frogspawn and hammer all of the time.

Also, try not to touch the tissue or allow anything adjacent to its location to rip its tissue. I would stick it in some sand.

Dont worry about anything. hell i have had my acans and micros out for like 10min cutting em up with the dremal. nothing happened. Air exposure isnt really a big problem. they will slim up anyway to protect themself.

my rocks fell down yesterday and I had to re-arrange everything. I had my tank sprawled out across my room. I had a frogspawn out of water for probably ~1 hour, with no ill affects FWIW.
