LR and lighting

Id like to have a few pieces of live rock in my fish only tank. The lfs told me that it would be unlikely for anything to grow on it unless i had better lights then flourecents. Is this true? Are their bulbs i can get for flourecents that would be ok? 55 gallon tank with 2x48" bulbs.

get one full spectrum bulb and one blue atinic bulb.... add some calcium and you will have gorgous coraline algae all over them in no time.....

I did what splash said. My rock is only about 2 months old and it looks awesome. It is covered in coralin and even has plants growing out of it.
