For some reason my LR is changing colors.
It was nice and purple before, but not it's turning more of a white color. Is it the lighting b/c I recently bought a new light. Went from PC to MH. The PC were putting 96 watts, MH putting 150 watts with a 14k bulb. Tanks is 30gal.

I believe i have read on here that the coraline does better under a little less light, like the PC's that you had. but then again once your rock is covered in coral it wont really matter what color it is underneath.

The whiteness is most probably due to your change in lighting. It will come back to a pretty purple though. Just give it some time. IMHO.

the rock towards the top of the tank in my display is void of coralline, but the rock below, and shaded areas are covered. it's the halides.

I defer to Mr X
I was going by my own experience. I only have PC's and when I changed the bulbs my coraline bleached white and eventually came back to purple.

and i'm only going by my experience with my tanks as well.
btw- i have a fromia starfish and a red bali star that both seem to enjoy coralline also. they are doing a good job at "cleaning up" the lower rocks too.

How new is the rock? When I transfered mine it had sponge growing on the rock and died off and turned white when it was placed in the new cycling tank.

It may be the shock of the new MH. Has the top of the rock been out of the water say at water change as this will turn it white? My rock is all purple under my 150 watt Sunpod. 29 gallon bio cube. I would also check water parameters, coralline has a real calcium requirement and if yours is low this could also be a possibility. Like said though with correct parameters it will most likely come back, maybe green first then will come the purple, pink red etc.
Just my experience with it.

thanks everyone
I also believe that it is the MH cause like Mr. X said the rock on the bottom shaded parts are normal. I'll just have to wait and see if it will come back.
