LR placement??

I've had my tank up and running for a little over a month now, it has cycled, and I have a couple of clowns, and my clean up crew in. I have a 180g with 200#'s LR. I placed all my LR in the center of my tank. My question is this, should I have set all the rock leaning against the back of my tank. Or should I have one powerhead going toward the front, and one pointed towards the back, kind of like a whirl pool. Is this right? Or will my fish hide on the back side of tank where everyone can't see them?

the problem with rock resting against the glass is cleanin the glass... you would have to move your LR to get to the spots around it... as far as PH placement thats up to you to get the best flow with no "dead spots"...

I would shoot for between 2500 and 3500 GPH.

It should be good if you distribute it around. Alot of people recommend between 10 and 20 times per hour of turn over.
I have 400 gallons per hour on my 19 gallon.

The biggest PH I've seen is around 900GPH. 2500-3000 is definately over kill, nothing in the tank would hold up to that!

If you aim is right it will work fine. The way the pumps work is based on volume and not so much on force. Just don't aim them straight down into the sand. People have been pumping that much water in that size of a tank for years and it works fine.

lol i think you think they are talking about getting ONE 2500-3000gph PH. no get about 3-4 power heads that together equal around 2500-3000 or iyou could get weaker ones and have your other means of filtration take care of the rest(sump, canister filter, etc etc)... i would recomend aiming two at the rocks and the other two on opposite sides of the tank... just my two cents
peace

Oops. sorry for not clarifying. I meant total turnover of a few powerheads along with your return pump.
