LR turning purple

I admit I know very little about LR, but mine is starting to turn a reddish purple in some areas. Is this normal or do I have some weird kind of alge growing on it?

redish/purple on your live rock is good!!! It means its beginning to fully cure!! How long have u had it?

its a weird algae... its called coraline and its a sign of a healthy tank.

I've only had it for maybe 2 1/2 months. Bout time SOMETHING went right in that tank :jumping:

Yes, that is an Anemone, but I mean the purple stuff on the LR next to the anemone

Keep doing what you're doing coraline algae growth indicates proper water chemistry. This type of algae incorporate calcium into its structure for protection eventually it will cover most of the surfaces in your tank that are not regularly cleaned. Don’t worry it helps displace undesirable algae and makes your LR more valuable. Note certain snails, and all sea urchins can eat your tank bare in a few months so be careful if you add them.
