no theres 0 water in the bucket...
i just used another bucket which is taller and deeper, i put the LR in there and weighed it, and it was 80lbs now..
very strange..
i know the LFS weighs it for u, but how do u trust em? anyway i ordered mines online and the total shipping weight was 140lbs.. it came with LS. I really doubt my LS is 90lbs cuz the LS was only 1inch in height in the tank...
:notsure:

Total shipping weight is the gross weight of everything......containers, bags , right down to the tape.
Don't go by it in your calculation. :D

we still dont know whats going on...
have any one of u tried to weigh ur own rocks or do u have blind faith in the LFS?
i was just tryin to weigh mines to see how much more LR i need, and this is what i ran into..
the scale I got is at ZERO. i have 2 scales, im about to try both..
ones digital and ones mechanical..
this sucks

Are you just putting the rock on the "human" scale and adding up the 5 lbs, 7 lbs, 10lbs (or what ever)...?
Try it by weighing your self as a base rate and then yourself holding each rock to to get "net" weight of the rocks...
"People" scales are NOT accurate at the extreme limits of there range...
LFS generally use a "baby" scale or a "low range" scale when weighing rock...

Otherwise, go with the "Bucket" reading...
There you are more in a "trustable" range of a "people" scale...

I just weighed 1 cup of oceanic and it weighs 10.4 oz. (not including the container it was in).
Now that that's aside, let's get back to the original question...
One problem might be the displacement of the rock. If you put a 5lb rock in the center of a scale that is made for weight to be evenly distributed to 2 sides, the you're gonna throw things outa whack. You cannot use a people scale unless you have 2 pieces the same weight and you place them where your feet would be if you stepped on it. I would "think" that the whole bucket would give a more accurate reading. That is only my opinion.
