Question to All? What should a LS DSB be made of, what type of sand is better, fine sand/Aragonite or other sand?

I used Natures Ocean brand Bio-active live agronite sand in my tank.It replaced my nasty crushed coral substrate with out a cycle.I removed all the CC and put in 40lbs of sand in a day.The only problem was the cloudy water caused by removing the CC.But that cleared in a day.Since then I have added an additional 60lbs of the same sand putting the total at 100lbs.I love this stuff, and highly reccomend it.

I used Natures Ocean live sand and Seaflor aragonite to start my reef and highly recommend it also.

Is LS maintenance free? I vacuum my CC OFTEN!! Oh yeah, one more question... What's the rule of thumb for how much sand? ie; 1 pound per gallon etc...

My sand is maintainenced by a Brittle star, 4 scarlet hermit crabs and ocassionally my emerald crab.
You will need 4" of LS above a plenum or 5+" of LS without a plenum and some sand sifting creatures.
The only gravel I recommend is Seaflor aragonite and Natures Ocean LS because the grain size is important to proprely function in nitrate reduction.
I had to guess how much sand to buy to get what I needed.
