so i guess i pulled a newbie move, i set up my lr, then i poured 30 lbs of ls now alot of the ls is on my rock. how do i remove the sand, without taking rock out?
Got mine at the dollar store. This blowing of the rockwork should also be done everytime you do a water change. It gets the dead and dying stuff into the water column for removal by your water change and your filters. A good husbandry habit to keep your nitrates in check.

or a powerhead even.
I always cause more damage than good when I wave a PH around in the tank...Dropping it in the sand and general stupid stuff like that.
I use a turkey baster.
Does anyone actually use them at Thanksgiving? I had to buy one for the tank cuz there wasn't one in the kitchen.
Oh Yeah. You buy a butterball turkey, or even coat your raw turkey with butter/margarine that stuff drips to the bottom of the pan. You suck it up with the baster and squirt it over your bird. Keeps it moist and juicy

just run the powerhead over the rock?
yes. the only difference is the turkey baster needs to be squeezed over and over and a powerhead does it for you.
aim it at the rock and let it do the work!

A turkey baster is the reefers friend. use it to blow the sand off the rockwork.
If you dont have a turkey baster yet get one! They are usefull for everything. You can also use them for spot feeding corals and shrimps. I had to put a zip tie around mine where the bulb attatches to the tube to keep it on. Just a little tip

Yeah, but you can't use a PH on a Butterball
