I bet Notre Lame is upset that they didn't wait to hear this news!!! They would have LOVED to have him there. Oh well, as a Buckeye fan, I love to see Notre Dame screw things up!!!

I wish they would shut up about it already, there is a lot they could be talking about instead of this, but of course Meyer, Tebo & Florida all represent the second coming as far as college football is concerned.

You don't lose a coach like Meyer and be fine. It's going to hurt recruiting for sure. Next season was probably going to be a off year for them anyway which I am sure played into Meyer's decision.

Exactly. No matter how you cut it, they just aren't going to be as good, they lose several key players.

Yeah, this will let them bring in a new system without messing up what would have been a good year.

Gotta feel for the guy to have to give up what he loves in the prime of his career.
I wonder if Florida goes right back to Utah after Whittingham?

The back up qb is a pure passer qb. He is a pocket qb. They have some weapons at wr next season. Their Linbacking core actually will be better. They brought in a kid from my County. Jelanie Jenkins who will be better than Spikes. He was an all american and recruited by every college in the nation. I believe he was the second rated LB by Rivals and Espn. Espn came here and had his school vs their biggest rival on national TV.

Even assuming they play another cup cake schedule (3 or 4 non BCS games and only 4 road games) They would be in a transition year and probably not a serious threat to contend for the SEC. You aint going to go from a Tebow offense to one ran by a mortal without giving up a lot.

I heard he was stepping down because of health reasons

Joe Paterno is 84 years old with a bum leg but he's still on the sidelines...

He may step into some other role with the school from what I heard. Maybe take some time off to recharge the batteries then go into scouting/recruiting or something.

That might be even worse for the team than if he left. Turmoil is never a good thing. The AD may have to go Jerry Jones on him.
Not sure what the heck is going on. Remember Billy Donovan leaving the Gators for the Magic, only to ask out of his contract and return after Noah and Horford left?
Now Timmy's gone and Urban does a similar flipflop (granted for vastly different reasons)....
