Lunar Wrasse Face turing white

I have a large show size Lunar Wrasse. He was absolutly beautiful when I got him about 4 months ago. I feed my tank Krill, Brine, Formula 1&2 flake and frozen, PE Mysis, Squid, clams. I even add Zoe vitamins. His face is turning white and has color isnt as good as it was. My tank is running with no ammonia, NO3 50PPM. I have to do about 40% water change a week to keep it even at this. I have a 110 Gallon with live rock and sand. My tank I think is setup well. I think I am feeding a good enough variety. My Lion does have a lateral line which I havent been able to get rid of. Any help.... PLEASE.....

it seems to much 45 gallon changes weekly.....i do 20 percent every 2 weeks....might be doing to much to fast....

Sounds like your tank is very ill. The above advice is very invalid. If anything, do MORE water changes. So far you have told us about two fish and they are both ill.
Why are your nitrates that high?
Are you overstocked? Feed too much?

Hate to disagree with Lion, but 50 ppm of Nitrate to a Lunare Wrasse should not be an issue at all. This is an extremely hardy and resistant fish in most cases. It has to be something other than that IMO. Do you have enough flow in the tank? Could oxygen be an issue?

No, I am not pinning the issue on the nitrates alone, but if the nitrates are that bad, you know there are other issues. If a 40% water change maintains 50 ppm nitrates, what else is going on?
I think the tank could be severely overstocked or the source water is highly polluted.

, but a "show size" lunare in a 110gal? Really?
Is there any chance you could get a pic of the lunare up? Large wrasses have a stress/night coloring, and it quasi-sounds like that is the coloring you're seeing.

This is a 110 Gallon 150 LBS of live rock sand bed. and 3 fish clown trigger med in size, a lion probably 5" and a lunar wrasse. This is not overstocked from what I can tell. I live in an area with very hard water. I use a DI/RO unit. I do 35-40 % water changes weekly. Still can not get the no3 lower. I have tried the sugar method and it only helps for a bit. Im at my wits end....

How do you vacuum the substrate with the sand bed?
