Lurker Surfacing

Hello,
I would just like to introduce myself and my tank.
My name is karen and I have a 75 gl reef with a few fish. I started out about 8 months ago with a 20 gl x-deep and did well with it but got bored quickly due to the size of the tank and my limitaions with it. Then I came across a 75 that was for sale complete with LR and LS and some corals and fish. I got rid of the fish, they were extremely large for the tank and from what I read not reef safe fish. I also got rid of some corals....very large Colts. I kept some but there were so many that I needed to clean house a bit in order to aquire some room for the things I wanted to add to the tank
I am very excited to have found this message board. After lurking for quite a few days I have found the people here to be very friendly and helpful. I am a new saltwater hobbyist and I could use all the help I can get. I am going to try and post a pic of my tank, hopefully it works. then I will start with a few questions I have, I have had alot of my questions answered already just from scanning the board

Tekdav,
The arrrowhead hasnt presented any problems yet, though he has shedded once already and I have only had him about a month. I am concerned that he is getting so large so fast and I may have to bring him back to my local fish store. I got him to help with a bristle worm (sp) problem I was having and let me tell you I have see him munching on some pretty big ones....maybe thats why he is getting so big so fast

Thanks everyone,
I really love my tank and I am constantly at it. I am happy that everything seems to be doing well, though I have to say after reading many of the posts here I feel that I dont do things quite right, like when I do a water change.....I just use the tap water with conditioner and I use my deep six and make sure it is the same as the tank and as close to the same temp and in it goes :notsure: I havnt lost anything since I have set the tank up so I figured this was ok. well like I said I am a newbie and still on a learning curve

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, I look forward to chatting with you all and learning all I can.
Happy New Year!!

well I guess my problems have just started with this guy

I will have to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesnt start eating "others"
his appetite seems insatiable!!

It may not have enuf food source in tank... they prefer feather duster worms and other tiny reef creatures. Or your snail was just dying and the arrow crab just finished the job. They are naturally agressive even with their own species. but tey are reef safe IMO

When I set up my first tank, I had and arrowcrab for about a week. Then one morning I came in to find him sitting on a rock eating my fire shrimp. I don't spend $35.00 on lunch for anyone or anything. He had to go. He was very easy to catch, too busy munching on the fire shrimp to care what else was going on.
When I took him back to the LFS, the arrow was too big to put in any of the tanks with the other shrimp so they put it in with the eels. That crab lived with those eels for over 6 months. He was definatly a mean little sucker, I watched him just rip the food out of the eels mouth, and the eel would go back and hide under a rock. Either that crab was superman of the crab world or that was one wimpy eel

Yea I think my arrow maybe makin a trip back to the LFS as well. I think as long as you dont have other shrimp or snails with them it will be ok. Doesnt seem to mind hermits.

I caught mine eating a small fish, I was wondering where my fish were disappearing to, and then I caught him red handed munching on a fish that was alive and healthy 10 mins earlier
