Lyretail Anthias

HI all,
I just got a male Lyretail Anthias and was told that they were a fish that were like intermediate to care for i was just wondering if ayone knew if they any special requirements and thats why they were intermediate i couldnt find anything about them really of the two main fish sites i use....

Feed them often, in small quantities, and of large variety! I would recommend making sure you are feeding at least five different types of frozen food, and I would feed them a little bit of food 2 times a day.
The biggest problem with anthias is that they are finicky eaters are very difficult to get to eat at first. You may need to use live brine or live ghost shrimp to get them to begin eating in your tank. As I tell everyone else, when you feed the fish, put the food in the tank for the fish, and then walk away from the tank for the first couple of days (maybe even a week), getting a safe distance to where you can see your tank to watch the fish eat, but the fish cannot see you, as anthias are often very easily spooked when newly introduced into aquariums.

Well i have been feeding him tons of differnt foods and figured id share of what he responded to the best for other Anthias keepers his favorite food including frozen is The formula one prime reef flakes

how is the fish doing so far? It's been almost a week.

Hes doing great he not nearly as scared he still hides if you go right up to the tank like to put food in but he will come out after a few seconds when he sees the food so much better

i have one for about a month he eats great is very social i do feed him 2 times a day all diffrent types try formula one or two in the frozen type mine loves it also shrimp prawn mysis good luck great addition to your tank :cheer:

i feed mine a combo of mysid shrimp,ocean nutrition formula 2&brine shrimp plus.the last two are flake.i soak the food overnite in vita chem and garlic guard.i feed 3 x a day every other day.
