Can macros be mixed? Some gracilla and cheato say?

Most of you seasoned vets, keep macro in your sumps. Is there a reason to not keep it in your dt?

I tried to keep some pretty red macro in my tank but the fish ate it with in an hour. Very pricy fish food.
Chaeto is messy in the DT and blocks the light.

+1 chaeto is messy I don't think I'd want it in my display. Fish picking at it and pieces getting stuck in power heads.

Ah yes powerheads hmm. I made like a 3×3 box from my extra egg crate. I put some macro in it. I figured the fish could eat what pokes thru. I have gracilla and calupera. No cheato lol. Imforbis its basically why i get it , is fish food but trying to delay the gone in a day lol.

They have some really intresting types. I was shocked bc i usually only get the stuff fish will eat

There is some with a calcarious base that I doubt fish will eat.
