Is it possible to keep macro algae in a display tank. My trates are at 20 and I have no room in my wet/ dry. So is it possible or is it just a waste of time. And if it were possible would it do good in an aggresive tank.

Here is an example of halimeda in a display, pruned regularly as to not over run the tank.

would chaetomorpha work. I think it works. I like that tank pic from ANOMONE. All the tanks that have some type of plant inside really catch my eye. I think chaeto would work best becase of my trigger, puffer, harlequin tusk, sfe. Unless they would nibble at that also. Would I have to acclimate chaeto. Or would something work better than chaeto? Thanks for the responses.

If they happen to nibble at the chaeto. I could probably make an egg crate cage for it.(I think) Does chaeto float? I have 2 40w fluorecent lights would that work.

I actually just got some cheato this weekend and put in my display tank. I put it between two rocks so it won't float all around.
I did this once in the past but only had a standard flourescent bulb and the strands of the cheato came off the bunch and got caught in my power heads and protein skimmer.
I think it's ok, it works for me

Stick with macro that will not attach itself to rock work and you will be fine. Anything that attaches can become a nuisance and difficult to remove so basically your choices are pretty much limited to cheato.

Okay. Chaeto it is. Would I just drop it in the tank. I will just let it floating on top. And do you think my fish would ruin it?

no it has a toxin that keeps the fish away (even my tang wont touch it)and it makes a good home for some inverts
