Yeah...I made an attempt at a durso standpipe and the water level stays where it's supposed to (about 1-2 inches from the surface of the main tank.) only problem is it's making a dreadful sucking noise. what did I do wrong?

what size hole did you drill on the top of the tube ? I found out the smaller the better and after time it will get better . Did you make the tube 1 1/2 also ?

alright! rebuilt with 1 1/4 inch pipe and the thing is sweet! zero sound from the tank! Highly recommended upgrade to anyone with an overflow!

this was my attempt.
it is actually made of 1" pvc not 1 1/4".
i had to heat it up and bend it because it did not fit in my overflow. the water runs high on it but the level never moves and it is slient!

I think it would work...after all thats what I use on my HOB overflow. It would just require occasional cleaning

I suppose it depends....Mine pulls so much it might help me....

I dont see why you would need one, well nvm I see what you are saying I think...Like a fish jump into the overflow and get sucked down and caught in a pipe somewhere...

My foam filter for my ofb is my first stage filter and I'd hate to lose it, it traps a lot of crap for me.

Haven't quit figured that one out with my sump yet. It's a 10g sump/fuge and I have very little room it. The intake on my skimmer would be blocked by the sock.
I was just curious, my ofb is super quiet compared to my pumps and clip on fan.
