Madgascar Live Rock

I recently called a LFS and asked if they had any live rock and they said they had 2 kinds: Figi live rock and Madgascar live rock. Does anyone know the difference between the two and is one better than the other?

no experience with madagascar, i only have fiji because most other types are (normally, unless you find a special)much more $$$, but botha re good rock

My LFS is always getting different types of live rock (most look the same) the difference is where it (suppose to be) coming from. Another LFS said its all mostly the same except for the mains Fuji, Tonga, Marshall, Happia, Florida deco, ect, ect, but then you get people that say its from a certain island and call it that type but would still fall into a catagorie of one of the above. Just look at the rock see whats on it and make sure its not to dense the more dense the less rock you get.

The Florida Aquacultured rock is very dense I would stay away from it unless you have a lot of money. It does however have a lot more life on it.

what kind do you think is best for the price? and is the more expensive always the better one?

best for the price, IMO is the fiji, good rock and good price, although i haven't used any others, the tank cost me enough alone, i didn't need to spend 3x as much for lr
