The return pump to my 125g just died. When I opened it the ceramic inside the impeller assembly is broken in pieces. Does anyone know why this happened? Now the impeller assembly costs me $30.. don't want this to happen again.. :help:

Buy a better pump, but you'll have this from time to time.......Do you clean and check your pumps regularly?

Yes the ceramic shafts in all the mag drive pumps will break very easily if your not careful with them. I learned this the hard way...Its no big deal though, thats why they make the new impeller assy., new impeller assy.= new pump
I usually keep an impeller on hand at all times just in case.

At the lfs they told me that it was because of a power failure, and the low voltage afterwards. I had to buy a "resun" for now until I receive the impeller assembly, had to order it online
At least they told me that if the impeller in the resun breaks, they'll replace it for free.
