Mag9.5 Question "why the hell did they make it like this"

ok I'm wondering why they made the mag9.5 so that when it sits on its side the output is horizontal, it seems to me that 90% of people using them are gonna be using them as return pumps so you're gonna want to pump it up not sideways so therefore you've gotta add a 90 degree bend right away, wouldn't that reduce you flow right away, can I compensate for this by placing the pump on its side so that the output faces up? Or should I just use the 90 degree bend?

I think you can also rotate the face plate.

Yeah, I notice that too, but the reason probably deals with the structure of the propeller and all that good stuff.

well the reason I didn't see the plate is cause I don't acutally have the pump yet I was just planning out my plumbing
