Majestic Angel With Open Sores

I have a large Majestic Angel that started with what looked like a sore on the inside of his mouth and he would not eat. We put him in a hospital tank for a few days using Maracyn-Two but he started looking a little better. Put him back in the 90 we have and it seemed that the sore grew to the outside of his jaw and became inflamed. Placed him back in the HT and started treatments with Melafix. The HP is only 10 gallons (he is about the size of a softball) and after a 1 1/2 weeks he started looking like he was ready to die. It has been about 4 weeks since he has eaten. At this point we decided we have done just about everything we could do to help him. We put him back in the 90 and the cleaner shrimp seemed to help with his open sore but he has still not eaten. Now he has started to grow what looks like ICK but it is very small and all over his body. He doesn't hide in the rock and seems to have plenty of energy but I just don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.

Wow, where to start.
1. Post this in the disease and treatment forum, you may have better luck there.
2. What kind of filtration do you have?
3. A 90 will not suffice for long term care for this fish, they need 300gal minimum.
4. What type of foods are you feeding?
5. This is pretty much an expert rated fish, if you can take him back now you may want to.

Donesn't matter He died last night. He had been doing fine in the 90 until he started with the sore inside his mouth. Oh well, guess I'll try again.......

He had no problem with being in the 90. The problem was that he developed a tumor inside of his mouth and stopped eating.

Please keep in mind it will work and the fish will survive if well cared for. Sounds to me like you did your best.
The problem with tanks sizes as I understand it (feel free to correct me tony) is that the minimum tank size is suggested for the wellbeing of the fish. They grow larger than a certain tank can handle. What happens when they get nearly full grown is that unlike most LFS will tell you they do not stop growing.
They begin to grow deformed. Not horrible but their proportions will shrink. Long sharks will become shorter and fatter and not as streamlined. etc..
So where as a 300g is suggested, it is not a requirement but be prepared when it gets full grown.

Well i have thought about ur problem theres a couple things i whould consider doing first of all a 300Gallon aquarium is NOT MANDATORY i have a 220 and a couple nice sized perfect angels the petstore that i have set up saltwater sections for with lil help from books keep ther fish in only 25 gallon tanks FULL sized angel live in these custom showtanks for the petstore i whould try again check ur balances and mayba a diffrent food NOT A 300gallon Aquarium

I wish this was true, unfortunately it is a myth that I have personally experienced being false.

Thanks for everyones input. I do agree that fish do have the ability to out grow a tank (in some cases) and for the fishes best interest at that time you need to consider either upgrading the tank or selling it back to the store you purchased it from and getting a replacement that can survive in that size tank.

Thanks tony. Just another of those incorrect groups of info a person picks up over time..grrr.
I so wish there was a way to know when someone is talking out their rear.
