Makes me so mad....

I saw a rerun of Fear Factor the other day and I was soooo outraged by one of the stunts! Basically contestants had to wear this big bubble thing over their head. The bubble was filled with water and they had a little tube to breathe from. Then they would put in probably 5-6 large moray eels!
The contestant had to unscrew the front plate to drain the water and some of the eels would fall out. But anyway, some were fall half of the way out and be hanging there, dangling. Others would be stuck in the bottom of the bubble with no water. The contestant would just be sitting there while the host talks to them for what seemed like way too long.
Makes me sad that they are not showing any respect for the eels. If you can find a stunt that is scary but also doesn't involve taking an eel out of water or transferring them so much, then go for it. But, their first priority should be respecting the animal! GRRRR!!!

Yes, I think its cruel. I think others that come along will agree....
it doesn't make you mad when people are cruel to animals?

It might not be the eel being out of water so much as man's stupid desire to be entertained no matter what the expense.
Anything in the name of ratings.

Yeah..... Joe Rogen said he basically gets paid to goto work and drop his jaw and say "They are really willing to do this?" "Ok if you will pay me to supervise it"

Well, seeing the eels dangling in mid air for awhile just doesn't seem right to me....its not like they were taking the helmet off. No, the host had to interview him first while he's sitting there with them hanging down. I personally wouldn't want to be hanging like that lol
I'd imagine that someone had lended the eels to the show for it? But...I wouldn't want to see how they were housed before or after. Why cause so much stress to them? Like people have said - its all about making a buck.

I hardly see it as cruelty. Do you get angry about the tanks full of snakes and worms that the people lie in and probably crush? If they aren't purposely torturing the animals, it isn't cruelty.

i don't agree with " if it isn't purposely it isn't cruel", because they still know it's mean, I'd say a better guideline would be " if it is unknown it isn't cruel."
and honestly, i can't stand when people freak out. The eels will probably be put straight into a qt tank with so much medication they can't feel anything.
and you would do exactly what Joe does if it fead your family...

Maybe i misread this but your first statement seems to be against it and then your second one seems to be for it... :notsure:

dmm, I hate when shows like that are on as well. These people can say whatever argument comes to mind, but I know what you are saying. It IS cruel and IS unnesessary. They could find plenty more stunts to do instead of causing these eels stress.
And don't tell me the eels were not stressed by hanging half out of a tank and being out of the water. They MIGHT have lived, but don't say they were not severely stressed.
