Making live sand

How long does it take for dead sand i.e. quick-crete playsand, to become LS. I have 60# of Dead sand in my tank right now. I am going to add aanother 60# of LS, will it just transfer over time?

The animals such as pods and worms will move over quickly, but the bacteria can take a couple of months to get at the levels needed by your tank and if it's a new tank it would all be the same by the end of the cycle.

It's all relative. It will be effectively "live" when the cycle is complete but it will not be overrun with life until months later. Over time the pods and worms etc. will reproduce and your dead sand will be as live as Elvis

i'm not trying to be a know it all but i think that u should get that yellow tank out of that 50 gl and move him to a 75 gl or more or if u don't have a 75 gl give that little guy away or else he'll die because of stress and u'll be terribly sad my friend was crying for 2 whole hours and he hates to talk about any type of tang good luck

I'm going to have to disagree with that last post. Tangs are only restricted in space regarding the length of the tank they are housed in, and a 55G and a 75G have the same length, 48", so IMO, if a 75G is large enough for the Yellow Tang, then so is the 55G.
PS I would remove the Arrow Crab though, as they are a very well-known predator.
