Making Saltwater

Here's what I would do but I'm no expert. That is the filter I previously used and I know how expensive the cartridge replacements are. You can buy a Mighty Mite RO/DI online for $100.00 and I would use a salt that makes my ph correct without adding additional buffer.

yeah...it wont hurt anything but i think you should mix the buffer and add it to the tank instead of your water change...i would get an RO/DI and i use red sea coral pro and it is garunteed to set your parameters right from ph to magnesium....but seachem shouldnt be that bad...

i havent had much luck with instant ocean, it never got my calcium up to a high enough level and i had to go through a TON of calcium additive ph and everything else was ok but i had to get something to help me with calcium and i found that red sea....i have some oceanic and reef crystals at home when i run out of this red sea going to give one of them a try

That is funny because I just ordered a bucket of Reef Crystals but haven't tried it yet. It is supposed to have higher calcium.

Thanks for you help. I will try adding the buffer to the tank just after I change the water and if that doesn't work I will change my salt mixture.
