Stupid Question = I see alot of people saying they bought fish from "lfs" what is that site. Every site I have ever looked into buying something from was just as expensive as the retail store up the street, than add the $30 - $40 shipping and it was a rip off....any advise ??

actually, at least some of the online retailers provide on average 7 day guarantee or arive alive...all you ever get from most LFS's are sorry no guarantees or 3 days at best...

I never bought anything online so I don't know much about it. But the LFS I visit seems much better than any other LFS you guys going to. I've bought almost every fish close to or less than online store prices. These guys would let you pick up a fish and keep it for you as long as you want. They are great guys.

My lfs guy is a hoot and quite knowledgeable. His famous phrase after purchasing a sw fish is "I guarantee it is alive when you walk out this door..." He doesn't have any guarantees on saltwater fish, but once he gets to know you well he will work with you.
I have a large golden tail moray eel and I was introducing a LARGE wrasse a few weeks back. That poor thing was not in the tank for more than 30 seconds when Morty (eel) came up, sniffed him and hauled his butt back behind the rocks and downed him head first. I was in total shock!! <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> I called my lfs guy and told him what happened and he is going to replace the wrasse with something bigger and meaner...no charge. Maybe a clown trigger that Morty won't mess with <img src="graemlins//yeahright.gif" border="0" alt="[yeahright]" />

The LFS i go to is great- THEY only salt water, and they specialize in reefs. I guess i lucked out.
very knowledgable, they dont guarantee live stock, but have been very cool about giving us price breaks from time to time when we had trouble with our tank. They are really into people who take the time to research too-- they love when my wife and I come in.
