Mandarian vs Scooter

Here is the problem. I have a 125 with about 200lbs of rock. I got a scooter about 1.5 years ago in a 29 with just a little live rock and not much else. Anyhow. I went to the store today with my dog to get something for her and fish food. They had this poor mandarian in the tank. It was so sad. So I spoke with the MGR and took him home for $5.00. Now to I have enough to keep them both alive the mandarian is very small only about 1.5 -2 inches. And would it matter if they were both boys? I know I have plenty of pods, I check my tank almost everynight.

I would try to get your scooter to eat mysis so maybe he wont eat so many pods. I had a mandarin who used to eat frozen brine till my sally lightfoot killed him.

The scooter will eat anything. So that might help.

I think it will work. You can try to get the scooter full twice a day so he wont be to interested in your mandarins pods.

I am going to try that tomorrow. They have already eaten today so we are going to start and get out the turkey baster

Nolofinwe, I think he already has the scooter and it eats anything.

I fed them today scooter eats blood worms. And the tangs dont like them. Which means they make it to the bottom. He ate them all up

Having a very established tank is the only tried and true thing that I've found to work. A lot of people will rush getting a mandarin or a scooter blenny because they see a couple of pods, not realizing just how much these little fish eat. It just depends on your tank
