When I had mine, I had him in the tank with a hippo tang, firefish, percula clown and a few chromises. They did fine toghether. Just make sure you have a real good population of pods so that it doesn't strarve to death.

They can fend for themselves just fine in a standard community tank. What they more likely do is end up starving to death. I would be more concerned with appropriate amount of LR, maturity of tank and refugium, rather than what fish are in with them, so long as they are in a community tank.

mandarin dragonets do fine with most community fish. but you have to have a ton of rock to sustain them. what size tank and how much live rock do you have? how long has your tank been set up?

They are highly poisonous. I have a psychedelic mandarin in my tank with a damsel and the damsel never bothers it. That should speak wonders of how poisonous this fish is.

poisonious? I did not realize that. interesting.
I have my psychadelic in with a Yellow tang, flame angel, Lawnmower blenny, maroon clown, yellow goby, lubbock wrasse, and some chromis and he is doing just fine

I do keep a close eye on him to make sure he is eating as the tank is only 4+ months old. So far So good
