Hi you all, I Introduced our new mandarin into reef tank and it excreted a slimy substance with, what looked like, grains of sand in it. Is this normal?
Thanks

stress. He's extruding part of his slime coat. My guess is the sand-like particles are.....particles of sand! Just caught up in the gook. My scooter blenny did this when he went from the 55 to the 110 gallon tank, and he was fine when he calmed down.

the fecal matter is slimmy and the sand, he might have tasted some sand or eaten a cope pod in the sand. dont wrry about it just keep ur eye on him

My mandarin slimed so bad one time he killed 2 other fish. We were moving just 10 minutes away and put 2 green chromis in a bag with the mandarin. When we got to the new place we found the bag cloudy with slime, one chromis dead and the other to die shortly after. The mandarn was pale and then skinny and took a month to recover. But although he took a hit he lived to the ripe old age of seven.
