I have a 100g frag tank with a lot of pods but it has 1" of crushed coral. I went with CC becasue of the fragging, buffering and CA+ benifits. Can a mandrin be kept with CC?

I feel the key 100% to a healthy happy Mandarin has got to be the LIVE ROCK, mine spends all day long on it looking in ALL the nooks and crannies.. for pods.. Along with a fuge to keep your pod population replenished, without these 2, I would vote no...

I have a 30G fuge and about 30-40 lbs of LR.

Thanks, I just spend so much time starring at this tank, I though a mandrin would be cool. I was just worried about the cc chaffing him or something?

I would think that as long as you can keep the population up....sounds like you should be able to....I would say that it would be fine.
You are experienced enough to see if it is getting skinny, and have other tanks to be able to move it to. I would not say this if you were not experienced, they really eat a lot of pods. It would be a added bonus if yours would also eat frozen mysis like mine does. Good luck with it if you choose to do this.

Ya, I could see that happening. I guess they would also do that on the LR too though? If I see one that is nice I might get him. If he becomes unhappy, I will put him in another tank.

Bought a mandrin today. Sure are pretty. He sat around all day and didn't move much. Lights went out and I just looked with a flashlight and he ate a pod. I must have 10 million in there. They are crawling all over. Wonder if he will deplete them?
