mantis in aggressive tank

I found a really small (about 1 inch) mantis shrimp in my 30g. I couldn't throw him down the toilet like most people do, so he's all by himself in a 10g. Now I'm planning on turning the 10g into a fuge and I don't know what to do with the little mantis. I was thinking of dumping him in the 125g aggressive... is that a sure death sentence? or will he do any harm to my fish?

Its a sure death sentence for the mantis if you have a puffer or trigger that get a hold of it. They dont care that its a mantis. Naturally if they take a blow it could be lights out for them. My money is on the aggressive fish making lunch of the mantis. going to be hard for him to strike when he gets bitten in half.

Depending on the size of the fish, yes...it could harm them.
There's almost no chance of survival if you keep it in an aggressive tank.
I've kept large Peacock Mantis with Damsels, but that's about it.

Just as cruel to throw him into a tank, to be eaten alive and picked apart by aggressive fish.
Thank you, again, for the email information too! I greatly, greatly appreciated it, Stella.

maybe it's cruel too..... but somehow a little more natural? :notsure:
won't he eat the stuff I need in the fuge??

I was going to say find someone willing to take him. There are people who keep small tanks going just for a mantis.
It is more natural for him to get eaten bya Trigger than flushed down the toilet. But still kinda cruel considering in the wild he'd have a chance of survival by running away. He's trapped in the aquarium! :notsure:

Ugly is only in the eye of the beholder.

I don't know but I have a mantis shrimp in my agressive tank and he is doing great, nobody even looks at him, he eats good and moves around a lot. I think that as long as you have a lot of rock in the tank he will be fine. in my tank he is with a stars and stripes puffer, porky puffer, blue jaw trigger, huma huma, v-tail grouper, panther grouper, green wolf eel and a snowflake. If you don't care about the shrimp whats the worry?
