mantis in my sump!!

I was in the sump room this AM, feeding my sump trigger(picasso) when I noticed some "dust" coming out of a hole in a rock. Then I noticed those unmistakable eyes peering out of the hole. It is a mantis shrimp. A smasher!!! I then proceeded to poke at him with a piece of rigid tubing and he was snapping at it like crazy. Almost coming completely out of the hole to snap at the tubing!! My trigger actually tried to snap him a few times.
I will assume that he is of no harm to my trigger fish and the only thing that is living in there besides the trigger, is 2 saron(monkey) shrimp and a huge zebra hermit that was executing my turbo snails.
Any thoughts?

I had a mantis in my tank once with a trigger, the trigger chomped it the first chance he got. I would think it wouldnt be too much trouble in there though. If you have the rock isolated take it out, pour hot tap water in the hole and then some cold water, he should come running out. That's how I captured the last one I had.

The trigger hasn't touched the zebra hermit as of yet, but he is constantly hunting those monkey shrimp. Those are the fastest shrimp on earth!! It's almost like they vanish!!

Yeah, I'd get him out (or get the trigger out)...while the odds are on the trigger, eventually that fish has to sleep and when he's sleeping the mantis in all likelihood is not

He's about 2-3" long and dark green in color. I was teasing him with a piece of krill last night and he came all the way out of the rock to get it!

Not only do I have one in my sump, but this AM I found one in my refugium!!! It's a small one. The rock has been in there since April just like the other mantis rock.
Anybody want these friggin things? Let me know.

I have to ask....why do you have a Trigger in your sump?
