Do you hear any of the trade mark clicking/popping sounds? That was a telltale sign for me. I heard clicks and pops for four months without seeing anything, and without losing any livestock, but sure enough (tonight in fact), I found it laying (alive) in my hang on tank wet/dry. I put the whole story in another post.

yes i just read your other post,
unfort i am 80% deaf and live alone so i won't be ablt to hear it clicking since that is one of the worst parts of my hearing, i can't even hear a really bad thunderstorm at night, ( good thing about this is a sleep very well )

I have also heard stories from people who had one, and they could see eyes or antennae poking out from a hole. I searched my tank high and low for any signs, and never saw anything until tonight.

I didn't think I had one since my tank was about 7 months old. I was just looking at my tank, inspecting everything then this creature came running out from under the LR, scared me pretty good. I never heard any clicks or saw anything unusual after 7 months then all of a sudden the mantis decided to show itself. They hide a lot so you rarely see them, but you can have one even if your tank is well established.
