Not sure if I have one or not. I recently added another LR to my Tank.
Do they come out at night ?
How can you be sure that you do not have one ?
Any destroying charcteristics I should look for ?
Thanks for the help, :)

ya they break your glass kill ur fish and pound (literally) or immobile and mobile inverts to pieces and a starfish cant survive the attack.the claw that they use for pounding has the power of a .22 bullet

Salty, I have never had one but from all of the many posts I have read about them about the only really sure way to get him out is too take out the rock he lives in and pry him out. If you have to get rid of the rock he is in then do it. Apparently these little suckers are hell in water so do waht you can to kill him, at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!! <img src="graemlins//evilwhorn.gif" border="0" alt="[Evil Horn]" />

Typically the first sign is the sound they make.
A distinct "popping" noise coming from the tank, especially after lights out.
You may see small piles of dusty material at the base of a piece of live rock, which I understand is the material the mantis has dug out in it's burrow.
If you hear it - it's there. Grab a flashlight and look for a dark greenish quick little bugger within the cracks and caves of your rock structure.
There is a good post in the Archives forum that deals with these little monsters.
