probably from the lr. Its only about an 1 1/4" long. Who knows how long it could have been in there. I got a little worried when I read how difficult they are to catch. Just lucky I guess.

If I recall correctly, mantis shrimp (the crushers, not the impalers) are the strongest creatures known to man in scale to their size. Hence my saying, congrats on removing that guy safely.. They're fascinating guys to watch.

I started feeding my corals heavily in hopes of getting its attention. It eventually made its way back to the rock I had prepared to remove. So I blocked one end with a net and yanked it out as fast as I could. The rock it was in weighed about 9lbs.

Arrrrghhh, If I had my new fuge setup and running on my 90 I would take it in a heartbeat. I don't think he would break through 3/8 plexi.

Will they wreck the reef? From burrowing or what? I am tempted to get this guy but I'm afraid he would devastate my snail, hermit, and coral bandeds. I have no fish.
Plus if he broke the 1/4" glass in my 15, I'm with Sporty...I'll be eatin' the little bugger.

i think i have one in my tank, i have not seen him yet , but i hear something in there clicking really loud. i have asked if it could be anything else, iam told mantis or pistol. i have been missing hermit crabs and snails, but no fish yet.

Is it a once in a while loud click or fast repetitive clicking? Like hitting a spoon or something metal on the side of the glass loudly? When the main lights are out, put a chunk of shrimp or other fresh seafood on the end of a skewer and see what comes out to get it.
I have had many pistols in my tanks and they seem fairly safe. My only complaint was the digging under LR and causing it to shift.

it clicks in groups of three or four. with about 1/2 sec between each click. its always clicking though. allthough the day and all night, almost every 15 minutes.. its crazy...
