Has anyone had one and how hardy are they ?

I had one, but it didnt make it, never saw it eat.

I had one for a while. It died when my tank crashed along with a few other fish. It took mine a little while before it started to eat, but when he did it had a big appetite i fed it mysis. It liked to stay in the shadows and was a fairly peaceful fish for looking as intimidating as they do. Whatch them around smaller shrimp if you have any.

The one I had seemed to be hardy and ate well, but always hid. Do not keep them with any boisterous fish as they are very timid. Sorry but that is all I remember about them.

Yes, definitely a timid fish when you first get it and will usually require live food at first (ghost shrimp). I would say they are generally pretty hardy though.
