I Recently bought a Marine Land Emperor filter. The bigger one im not sure what its called but there is two one big one small.I have it in a 30 gallon tank that ive had for a while but only started putting in use 6 months ago. This tank im having problems with i kept A baby trigger alive but the water quality is never really clear. I have 25 pounds of live rock crushed coral no fish in there at the moment and was wondering what else i should do to get better water quality this is the only aquarium out of the many i own that is giving me problems. The guy said because the filter is big and is for like 80 gallons it should keep the water Crystal clear thats why i chose that instead of the wet drys i have in all the rest of them.

I run 2 of these filters on my freshwater 55gallon (which is overstocked) and I havn't had any problems. How often do you clean and replace the filters? I clean the filters once a week and replace the filters once a month. Also you may want to consider replacing the CC with LS. What are your water params.?

I have these filters running on my salt water and freshwater tanks. They both do a superb job. My water in both tanks is the cleanest I've had. I even have let my freshwater tank go for a couple of months with no cleaning and all was well... Water was still cleaner than most LFS I go to.

Take the filter cartridge out and scrub the junk of the blue part of the filter. I just run them under the water for a couple of minutes. You should probably use dechlorinated water when cleaning them although I never do.
