Maroon Clown on a Killing Spree!!!

Ok, maybe not in a killing spree but that's what It looks like. Let me explain.
I have my Maroon Clown fish for almost 18 months by now, he/she has being the only clown fish in the tank untill today when, by recomendations of the lfs, I decided to get a smaller maroon clown fish so the big one will have a pair and perhaps wouldn't kill the anemone he is taking as hostage. (no host)
So I introduced the new clown fish and everything seemed to be ok. The big one seemed interested and started "playing" with the small one, both started to rubbing each other and pocking at each otther but nothing too violent. All the sudden, like an hour later, the big one just hit the small hone really agressively ans started chasing him in the tank. This is a 75gl tank. And now the small one is hiding behind one of my pumps and the bigones has crazy look in its eyes, like he/she is wating to see him so he/she can kill him
Any ides or suggestions? please!!

IMO it's a dominance issue. The larger one (the female) will continue to do this until until she feels that the smaller one(the male) imposes no threat to her. This can get quite violent and usually lasts a week or so. Just keep an eye on them to make sure the male doesn't get beat up too bad as the maroons are the most aggressive of all clowns. You might also have an issue with any other fish you put in there cause of a territorial issue being the female maroon was in there first, she thinks the whole thak is hers.
this is just my opinion and i'm sure others will give their .02

Agreed - give it a week or so. If you are really concerned, you can put him in a hamster ball or something to prevent them from getting at each other.

you can always re arrange part of your aquascape or move the nem. I had the same prob with a pair of clarkiis and when I finally took out the anemone, the fighting was over almost instantly. HTH.

My marron clown fish killed the newone. I found whatever was left of the poor guy on the anemone. The big ont thore this little fella in pieces, there were no fins and tail and there wer chunks of flesh floating in the tank. It was sort of disturbing to see this when I turned the lights up. I guess this is nature, buyt I am very sad for this, if I had known this could happen I wouldn't have put the little fella insiede the tank.
