Maroon Clowns

Is it possible to pair up Maroon Clowns? I bought one a couple days ago. It is about 3". Could I get a smaller one and pair them or would they just fight? It is a gold stripe, if that makes a difference.

I believe you may be able to pair them up if one is bigger than the other. It's always a hit or miss kind of thing with pairing clowns up clowns.

They will probably fight. General consensus is that most maroons will fight, regardless of size. The best way to go is to buy the clowns as a mated pair. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule, and you may have a better chance if you go with 1 that is larger than the other. A larger tank with good hiding placed could only help too.

I was able to make it work, I had a large (4") Maroon clown and I purchased a Small (Maybe 2") Maroon Gold stripe. I was worried at first, but the blue devil damsel went after it first, the large clown came out and nailed the damsel. After that the clowns were the best of friends, I think they are even trying to mate.
The damsel won't even look at the clowns now.
If this is going into your 180g, I would think it would work. It worked in my 140G. Good luck!
