Well I'd say it depends on your tank and other livestock, but if the Anenome can't defend him self, then even with the clown he's in trouble.
Anenomes are pretty tough little buggers, remember they defend the clown from predators.

well my shark and ray never leave the bottom so there not a problem,,i have a kole tang and a foxface...dont think theyll bother it,,and other than the clownt hatt im adding next im getting a grouper and purple tang, thats all for my t ank
what do you guys think? and specifically what kind of anenome would work? how big? cause the maroon will be 4-5".. also i just ordered PC's for my tank.. 300 W

No, I also do not think an anemone will do well under that lighting. I have 270 watts of PC on my 210 and I know an anemone would not live in my tank. The light is not intense enough for one. That will probably be the problem in your tank too.
The clown may work though. It all depends on the size of your shark and your future grouper. What kind of grouper are you getting?

im probably gunna get an M. grouper, i think the clown will def. be alright with my shark etc. but i will scratch the anenome.. i was justw ondering what ic an get.. im going to get the PC's so i can mess with some shrooms and polyps, nothign big or exciting just a little experience qand some fun in my tank

I have a RBTA under PC's that is doing ok, but I have 384 watts on a 65 gallon tank. My aggressive little Maroon clown keeps my Queen Angel and my Clown Trigger away from HIS anemone! So, if you can get enough lighting, then I would say GO FOR IT!

The issue tends to be lighting and water quality. Anemones are not easy animals to keep - nor are they necessary for a clownfish. IMO, I would not try it.

The only problem with having PCs is that the tank is so deep. You cannot determine where the anemone is going to go. He may pick to stay on the bottom of the tank. In that large of a tank, I would say MH's are neccessary for the anemone because they will penetrate to the bottom very well.

If you do get the proper lighting for an anemone, I would suggest the BTA, as they are pretty darn hardy and my Maroon LOVES his! I have about 4.4 watts per gallon and my BTA and condi are doing better than ever -
(i'm looking into MH soon though)

Yes, but I bet your tank is not 27" deep. It has less to do with wattage and more to do with intensity.

unfortunately you cant determine thriving anything from a LFS most specemines are kept in very inadequite set ups.they are not kept for long term so you will not normally see the ill effects of that improper housing does to them in the stores.I dont suggest keeping any anenome without MH,IMO
