Maroon clowns are pretty darn big for clownfish reaching about 6" or so.
Mixing clownfish is an iffy proposition at best. They don't tend to like each other much and will likely end up hurting or killing each other eventually. Pick one type of clown and get two of that type at most, put in at the same time, preferrably one noticably smaller than the other (one will turn female, the other male) Although you might be able to mix them in a large enough tank with lots of liverock or something so they can stake out territories without conflict.

i did a recent trial run of this proposition ---i have a mated pair of percs(one 3+" and one 2") added a large GSM clown (3+") and now i have to take out the GSM as he is now short a couple fins......this is in a 90g with well over 100LBS of LR .....in a 30g tank he was fine with 2 unmted percs that are <2" no hostility.............this is just my recent experience with mixing clowns.

I have a 210 and had amaroon and tried to introduce a pair of percs, I have over 200lbs of LR and it didnt work at all. They almost killed each other.
I had to give the perc away :happyfish

So what would be safe to put with a Maroon? I currently only have a 20gal long tank and the only fish in it is a maroon clown I got 2-3 weeks ago. I want to put more fish in there but am not sure what would be ok

You might want to rethink the GSM in a 20gallon tank idea. They get large and in a 20 gallon tank they are going to feel like they need to defend almost every part of the tank from every fish you add. GSM's are great in pairs, and in my experience with them they are great with other fish as long as the other fish are NOT any other type of clown.

20g with a clown, hmm, I'm thinking you need to take back the maroon and get something else if you want more than one fish, something that is going to stay small. IMO, in a 20g the maroon is the only thing your going to be putting in there, fish wise.

I agree, not only will the maroon get to be about 6 inches andfill the tank by himself but on the aggression side of things, they are the most aggressvie clown you can get and if you try to put ANY other small fish in there with him, he's goona get terrritorial and stress the other fish or kill it :scared:

Agreed, but that same fish in a 50 gallon or more and she'll be alot less aggressive.

Absolutly, so if you want the maroon and other fish maybe you need bigger tank or if you want to stay with the smaller tank go with a different clown and then you could have another fish

thanks for the tips. I sure wish the LFS would hire more competent people. There is the owner and 1 employee that actually know what they are talking about when it comes to saltwater aquariums. I took a chance and listened to an employee ive never seen there before. Originally I had a yellow tail damsel in the tank and that was the only fish I had. The person I talked to said that the damsel would be really aggressive and the maroon clown was probably the only other fish that would deal with the damsel. I actually ended up taking the damsel back to the store because he wouldnt let the clown out of the corner of the tank. I wanted something colorful and fun to watch as my tank is in my kitchen. I am upgrading to a 24gal nanocube but Im assuming that is still too small for the maroon if I want other fish with her?
Here is another question. At the LFS they have a dwarf lionfish. I know Lionfish are aggressive and eat other fish but with a dwarf can you put larger fish with them or are they still pretty much a one fish only type? Im working on a second tank but not sure where Im going to put it so not sure how large Im going to go
