Yup, its the lights. There are other things that can be contributing but the lights are the main cause in my opinion.

I'm in the process of curing the same thing. My solutions were:
a) Cut back on lighting
b) Bump up the water changes
c) Bump up the cleanup crew (snails, hermits, and a lmb)
d) Cut back the feeding
It's made a world of difference. The next thing I'm going to try is buying a RO unit and not using water straight from the well.
My tank was a mess, but the good news is it didn't affect the livestock.
