If the tank with the 3 tangs is significantly larger then the one with the solo Scopas, I would try him there first. Mata's grow to be one of the largest tangs outside of the
Naso genus (20 inches ).
He is an Acanthurus genus tang, so he should be able to hold his own, but with tangs, it's all about who's there first. If dividing the tank with eggcrate is going to be too much, try to find a large vented critter carrier or a plastic basket, you could put the tang in first, so the other tangs can get adjusted to the new guy without doing damage (also if they go bat-- crazy, you can easily remove him
).
