Does anyone have one? They say they are great aptasia eaters....BUT MAY...(or may not) nip at corals

I'd like to hear anyones experiences with these fish....or opinion of one in a 54G mixed reef :)

SORRY! I was out of cell service all day.

Anyways, this is not the filefish that I'm currently looking for. However, I just returned one of these little monsters to the LFS. It nipped at all of my polyps and SPS. Left the LPS alone, but everything it munched on. I had it for a week and in that time it destroyed my Bali Green Slimer (about 4" frag) and ate a huge chunk out of my zoanthid colony.
They're hit or miss, but this guy left all my aiptasia alone and went right for the corals, I tried him in three different tanks, had the same problem in all three. They also can't handle even a semi-aggressive tank mate. My Coral Beauty just swam up to check him out and he panicked and tricked to get in the overflow box.
They're more commonly referred to as a Bristletail Filefish.

peppermint shrimp? I think there is a type of nudibranch as well.

From the dr's site and this is EXACTLY what I experienced:
"The Matted Filefish is known to eat Aiptasia anemone in the home aquarium, but normally nips at soft and stony corals as well. The diet should include shaved shrimp, squid, scallop, mysis shrimp, freeze-dried krill soaked in a vitamin supplement, and frozen marine algae. The Matted Filefish should be fed small quantities of food several times per day."

Honestly, filefish are a PITA with the small amounts of feeding they need throughout the day. I loved mine and was willing to do it, but it is a hassle.

I can't keep peppermints with the flamehawk, and I have researched the berghia nudibranch...it says they will eat aptasia...and only aptasia....so then I guess it would starve, plus they are hard to find

I guess I'll just stick with the Joe's Juice

That's what I'm stuck with. I wanted the filefish for the same reason, he didn't touch the damn aiptasia, just my corals
You just never know with this hobby. For the record, I've never had luck with the darn peppermints either.

I have the same issues
Peppermint is great on my Zoa tank but it will be a meal on my main tank since I have a lot of wrasses.
Berghia will be eaten too:(
So I bought this guy ( cool looking but loves my acans :(
It's on my Zoa tank now no issues it will be on my new sump soon to eat all
The aptasia there.
Kalkwasser works but the aptasia always comes back.
Some large angel eats majano, bubble algae and aptasia but loves LPS too!
I might try kliens butterfly next!
