When making your own salt what do you use. I know that you use.
Sodium Chloride, magnesium chloride, Potassium chloride, Calcium
Chloride. NOW time for the ? what are there store names and where can I get them this time of year.

dose any one know where I can find a ice melter named freez gard.

Why do you want to mix your own salt? The pre-mixed stuff in a good brand is going to have all the trace minerals and such that you need. You sure your recipie has them all? In the right ratios?

It's pretty easy to find FreezGard in Google. I still don't see refrences to anyone using it in an aquarium though!

google has many freez gard sites but no one this time of year can get it in.

The reason i am mixing my own salt is because. 1) I know how to mix it. 2) I am useing my recipie and mattiej recipie combined together. to make a beter recipie. 3) I think you don't know the size of my aquariums 2700 gallons, 300 gallons, 95 gallons, 55 gallons, and 5 gallons. total 3155 gallons.

Ah! I don't think I'll ever get that much into this hobby, I like to spread my money out. How much will you be able to save by making your own salt mix?
