Im considering upgrading from my 38g fowlr to a 55g reef!

I was wondering in advance how many small-medium size fish could i hold in there with the addition to a 20 gallon sump?

I was thinking about something like this:
1 Yellow tailed damsel (allready have)
2 Maroon clowns
1 sixline wrasse
and a small school 2-3 of anthias
or
1 Yellow tailed damsel (allready have)
2 Maroon clowns
1 Coral beauty
and a small school of green chromis
what do u think?

I would prefer the list with the anthias but wasnt sure if that would be over doing it or what species i could have?
Also what kinds of corals and inverts could i have with a 4x65w pc system?

imo, a 55 is too small for 3 anthias (they usually go in sets of 3. 1 male and at least 2 females.)
why dont you do list 1, minus the anthias and add the coral beauty?

the coral beauty may or may not pick on corals. its a hit or miss thing.
the maroon clowns are gunna get aggressive as they get bigger. ive got 1 in my 30 and h doesnt even let me put my hand in the tank. introduce the pair last, and you should be o.k.
just thought id let you know.

If it was me I'd go with smaller PEACEFUL fish, a small school or chromis, a couple perc or occ clowns, a royal grama, maybe a mandarin once the tank is established.
The majority of the fish on your list are semi-aggressive which isnt technically a bad thing.. To me I just prefer "community" fish in a reef, Especially in a poorly shaped tank such as a 55. Keep in mind a reef tank really is not about the fish!
The Coral Beauty idea to me is a bad one.. Good luck when you have a stocked Reef Tank and you see him picking at your favorite corals but its impossible to catch him so now you have to dismantle your beautiful reef! Not fun.. And been there..
but good luck!
